From 1pm Friday, May 4th, thru 1am Sunday, May 6th The Humane Society of Columbiana County, will host a 36 hour “Cinco De Meow and Bow-Wow” event to kick off “Pet Adoptathon”. Pet Adoptathon was created 18 years ago by the Animal League to unite animal shelter and rescue communities to raise awareness for millions of shelter animals. This year, over 2,500 shelters around the world will join together for the Pet Adoptathon Month of May!
During the 36 hour event, HSCC will also be holding an open house for tours of the shelter along with a basket raffle and other activities. Raffle tickets will be given to anyone donating items to the adoption center, such as laundry detergent, paper towel, kong pet toys, peanut butter, trash bags, latex gloves, clay kitty litter, bleach and gift cards. Wear your PJ’s and receive a prize!! The Humane Society ROCC, Rescue and Adoption center is located at 1825 S. Lincoln Ave in Salem. Call 330.332.2600 for more details.

HSCC has offered to help house Kenna until a foster or forever home can be found. Please share her story! More updates on this little girl when she arrives at the adoption center.

Kenna needs a foster or forever home – Niles, Ohio

Kenna is a sweet 20 month old pup that has been chained her entire life. Her owners recently brought her to the vet and she was diagnosed with Heartworm. The staff suggested she be spayed and the owner replied “Why? she is going to die soon anyway!” The Office staff jumped into action, had her spayed and are paying out of pocket for the HW Treatment. The dog was returned to the owner until a foster or forever home can be found. Kenna is a very sweet, 34 pound yellow lab pup. She has received her first set of vaccinations and will need another HW treatment.

Hi Everyone I am Jenka former member of the HSCC and this year’s spokescat for the Tom Cat Special Event! GOOD NEWS!! There are spots still available for the Sixth TOM CAT SPECIAL hosted by The Humane Society of Columbiana County (HSCC) and the Community Animal Clinic being held tomorrow, March 3^rd at the Community Animal Clinic in East Liverpool. This event is being held in recognition of Spay Day USA 2012, a nationwide event. Show your male cat how much you love his and reserved him a spot. Did you know that neutering can keep your cat healthier? Testicular cancer is no longer a concern (yes, un-neutered cats and dogs can be at risk) and it also reduces the risk of prostate problems. The biggest thing of all is it helps reduce the over population of cats and dogs (If you have a dog it’s a good idea to neuter him too!). The cost is only $17 per cat and it also includes a rabies vaccination. Now that’s a bargain! I had it done and I feel great!! It has not slowed me down a bit; I can still chase my brother Apollo around, play with my toys, jump and eat kitty nip! If you would like to schedule your fury boy just call HSCC at 330-332-2600 TODAY and no later than 7 p.m. this evening to reserve a spot for tomorrow! Hurry because there is limited space left.
