Foster Program
Our foster care program provides temporary safe and loving homes to cats, dogs, horses and other domestic animals that come to HSCC because of neglect or abuse until they are ready for adoption. Animals enter the Foster Program because they are not ready to be put up for adoption, either because of severe undersocialization or because they are too young, sick, or injured. Animals that have been in the shelter for extended stays can also benefit from some time in a stable and nurturing home environment. Fosters can last for as little as a few days or as long as 6 months, depending on the case. The average foster stay is 4-6 weeks.
While fostering, HSCC will continue to provide for all medical needs (with prior authorization) of the foster pet in your care. The foster family will be required to provide indoor shelter, food, water, and as much socialization as possible.
Please call 330-332-2600 to find out which of our animals is currently looking for a foster family.
